Thursday.
A man was lying in the forest. And he died. Upon opening
his eyes he expected to find heaven, lush greenery and fresh
fruit and women, lots of women, with wet dripping down from
between their legs. Well, that’s not really what he
expected, but that’s what he had hoped. He expected hell. He
expected he would wake up in a jumpsuit that was too tight
around the waist, with a pleated front. He would be the
lone man on the hot box shift, shoveling shit into an oozing
burning inferno, the mouth of which was just slightly
smaller than the width of the shovel's blade, forcing him to
be extra careful, trapping his mind as well as his body,
lest he want to be covered in the mess from head to foot.
When he opened his eyes he was surprised to find neither wet
women nor hot shit. He found himself in the forest. The same
forest in which he had laid down to die. The sky was the
same shade of pale gray. The air had the same crisp bite on
his skin. The mud was still cold and caked underneath his
fingernails, in his hair behind his head.
He sat up. Zipped his worn canvas coat over top his
flannel shirt and brushed off what he could of the dirt
down his front. Leaned back on his hands and looked from
side to side. Pulled the leaves out of his hair. Bent
forward to tie his shoe. Glanced at his watch. Might as
well be on his way, could still make his shift on time at
work. Yum, he thought, pudding for lunch, he had hoped for
chocolate, he expected it would be vanilla.

All Small Redux returns to the premise of the acclaimed 2002 exhibition, all small@eyedrum—that the exquisite and completely petite nature of small works can be overwhelmingly mighty. In this time of downsizing, low returns, minimal output and small budgets, it is refreshing to celebrate the fabulous preciousness of the tiny.
All Small Redux adds into the fold the world of micro fiction.
Works at or under six inches, sixty seconds or one-hundred and eight words will be reviewed for possible inclusion in the exhibit.
The jurors who organized the first all small return to jury this exhibition.
Jurors
Lisa Alembik is the director of The Dalton Gallery. An artist, educator and curator, her work has been exhibited throughout the Southeast, including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia and the Huntsville Museum, AL.
Rachael Baldanza is the Managing Director of the Creative Workshop of the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY, where she also serves as curator of the Lucy Burne Gallery. Baldanza is an artist and arts educator.
Richard Gess is a writer, visual artist and curator. He formerly programmed art, film and video at Eyedrum Gallery, GA and organized the film segment of the exhibition No Agenda But Their Own at The Dalton Gallery.

FUEL Collection, Grand Small Works December 5-28th, 2008
In the meantime... while you wait patiently for this blog to have more body, go check out the Fuel Collection's Grand Small Works, located in their gallery on 3rd St in Old City, Philadelphia.
FUEL attempts to fit 1,000 small works in one show, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting FUEL the CURE, which raises money for various charitable organizations.
Myself, as well as many of my friends and students have work in the show, including works by fiber artists C. Pazia Mannella, Erin M. Riley, photographers Meredith Gowell and Xiomara Benavides, and Angie Washko - painter.
